Brian and I aren't movie watchers. We don't follow tv shows. We don't knit. We don't garden. We don't care about sports. We don't even really get in to cooking.
We ride and we ski and we hike and we camp and we sometimes send messages to each other over Facebook.
And in between we take care of kids and we cook and we clean and we go to work and we prepare for work and we try to get enough sleep.
So it is rare and expensive treat to get this guy ALL. TO. MYSELF. No kids interrupting or frantic push to get to work and school on time.
When we do have the opportunity to be together, it is tempting to make it a bike date or a ski date. And don't get me wrong. Those are my favorite ways to spend time with my husband. But life can be complicated and difficult and when you spend all of your time managing that, you know what's better than a bike date or a ski date?
Just a date. Where we can sit next to each other and have a real conversation about real things and about the complexity of our lives lately and drink some wine and maybe even share a kiss.
I love this guy.
Also, I drank 5 glasses of wine.
That was a poor decision.
Hanging out with this guy was a damn good decision.
It kind of mitigated the wine.
Sort of.
