In the interim, I celebrated what felt like a year's worth of emotion in one week. First, Hazel started kindergarten. For having a kid who's been in day care since infancy, I was surprisingly emotional. She was less so. Kindergarten?? When did that happen? How do I have a kid old enough to go to Real School??
That same day, Hazel completed her first triathlon. It took all of 11 minutes and I pretty much spent the entire 11 minutes screaming my head off, I was so excited for her.
Well, okay. I screamed for her until she turned to me and flat-out said, "You can stop running next to me now, Mom."
Sigh. They grow up fast.
AND THEN (see? I told you. A year's worth of emotion in one week) we celebrated Tygh's first birthday. Tygh's first year has been full of change and stress and moving and craziness but you know what? He's been a happy baby, full of smiles and baby talk the entire time. His first birthday represented a year of insane stress in our household (which I may talk about on this blog sometime but not now) and his role as a reminder that damnit, we need to smile and laugh and sit on the floor and tickle a baby. I love him.
Oh yeah. I'm not done yet.
THAT SAME WEEKEND, Hazel learned to ride on two wheels. OMG, I just couldn't take it by that point. I was so freaking excited. I am sure my screams could have been heard in Denver.
And did I mention my parents were here and we took them on Trial 403 and floating the river?
Seriously. After that week, I needed to be emotion-free for several days. I was exhausted.
In the next couple days, I will post some late summer posts that have been sitting in my draft folder for awhile. Then we'll be back to regular programming- cycling (CYCLOCROSS), camping, etc. You know, the usual.
