Ouray/Easter/Are we supposed to hunt for eggs or something? Weekend

Ok, fine. I admit it. We did let the older kid hunt eggs for Easter. Twice, in fact. But not being big Easter people, we also decided it would be a great opportunity to get out of town and do some exploring.

Being on injured reserve (STILL) means too much activity is out. Hot springs are in. So so in. We went to Ouray. The last time we were in Ouray, it was 2009 and Hazel was 5 months old.

My, how things change. But not really. This time, we went with our almost-7-month-old.

We went to the hot springs twice in two days AND the hot springs at our resort, we hiked the Box CaƱon, we even hunted for eggs at the town Easter egg hunt. It was the perfect getaway for a gimp like me. Did I mention it was only two hours away?

WIN.

You can make your kid love the outdoors, but you can't influence her clothing choices. Case in point: Hazel's attire for Easter Sunday included an Ariel the Mermaid costume (complete with a bare tummy- she is a mermaid after all), her doll's sweater, flashing princess sneakers and Hello Kitty hat. Tygh, as usual, was unimpressed.

This is a strange picture of Hazel leaving the hot spring with a deflated swim ring, but Tygh's expression is pretty rad.

Picture. Of. The. Year.

Walking up to the trailhead. Ouray has the best views from town of just about anywhere in the country.
